Velocity Measurement Technologies of Space Debris Driven by Ground-base Simulation Devices

Velocity measurement is one of the key technologies in simulating hypervelocity impact of space debris driven by ground-based devices. The paper reviews technologies of measuring velocities of millimeter-sized debris, including electric probe, laser shading, magnetic induction, X-ray flash photography, and laser interferometry (VISAR), and also technologies of piezo-electric sensors, high-speed streak camera, and scattered light for micro-debris. The principles and applied ranges of these measurement technologies and their performances are dissussed. The major ground-based driver devices and their natural parameters are also discussed.
