Methods of Oceanic Spectral Data Measurement and Analysis

Tang Junwu,Chen Qinglian,Tan shixiang, Dong Qing, Miao Wei and Feng Linxin Institute of Ocean Technology,SOA,Tianjin 300111
Oceanic in situ optical data measurement and spectral analysis is essential to any ocean color sensing project. Oceanic spectral analysis will help improve pigments' retrieval algorithm, atmospheric correction algorithm for Case Ⅱ waters selection sensor's bands, and vicarious calibration and validation. This paper first gives a brief introduction to the principle of ocean color, then gives a detailed processing procedure and typical results in the Yellow Sea area. As we have no suitable under-water optical instrument, we have proposed a method of spectral measurement with above-water spectrometer.
