An Autofocus Algorithm Study Based on Image Edge

An novel autofocus algorithm is proposed. The algorithm involves edge extraction technology and extremum locating technology. The edge extraction is implemented by a 2D minimum isotropic wavelet filter, and the extremum locating is performed by energy function of edge feature image, namely searching the maximum energy image in a sequence of edge feature images which be obtained in the course of the focusing. Some experimental results are given in this paper.
