DETERMINATION OF TRACE ARSENIC CONTENT IN STEEL BY HYDRIDE GENEATION-ATOMIC FLUORESCENCE SPECTROMETRY

The determination of arsenic in steel by hydride generation-atomic fluorescence specttrometry(HG-AFS)was developed.The influence of instrument paramenters such as atomizer height,carrier gas rate,shield gas rate and concentration of HCl and KBH 4 on the determination of arsenic were studied and the conditions were optimized.The results indicated that EDTA could eliminate the influence of the substrate element Fe.The ascorbic acid had a better masking effect on the coexisting elements Mn,Ni,Cu and Mo.Under the optimized conditions,the linear range of arsenic was 0-100 ng/mL,and the detection limit was 0.073 ng/mL.The relative standard deviation of determination result was 1.7%(n =10).The method was applied to the determination of trace arsenic in the standard reference steel sample,and the result was in agreement with the certified value.The recoveries of general steel were 90.0%-99.5%.
