In the spring of 1991, Henan Provincial Institute of Archaeology made an excavation at the site, and 8 ash pits and some artifacts were unearthed. Based on the stratigraphical and typological analysis, the site was considered to be the Erlitou Culture and could be divided into two periods. The first one corresponded to the Erlitou Ⅰ Culcure or even earlier, while the second shared lots with the Erlitou Ⅱ Culture.
