On the Yangshao Pottery Signs
Liu Mingang
People have different ideas about pottery symbols of the Yangshao Culture. This paper, based on the previous studies, suggests that the suybols which incised or painted on pottery are counters since they have some relations with the number characters of the later dynastiles. Besides the author still believes that the symbols are written to record the moving of the sun and the moon. The symbols may repressent an old twelfth system.
