Collection and Sorting-out of the Animal Bones Unearthed from the Lingbao Xipo Site

This paper describes the methodological issues concerning the recovery and analysis of faunal remains from the Xipo site in Lingbao,Henan,and the main focus is to evaluate the effect of recovery procedure and taphonomic variables on faunal assemblages.The results indicate that while the effect of natural and biotic agents on animal bones is limited,the effect of human practices on bone taphonomic processes is evident.The differences of recovery procedure played an important role in the increase/decrease of animal bones,but the use of relative frequency can minimize the effect of recovery procedure on faunal remains.
