Determination of Iron in Iron Ore by Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry

Iron ore was decomposed by fusion with sodium carbonate-sodium tetraborate mixture flux,and the melt cake was then dissolved with hydrochloric acid.Fe248.327 nm was selected as the spectral line of iron uninfluenced by other elements,and the Fetotal in iron ore was determined with internal standard method.The relative standard deviations were in the range of 0.29% to 0.39%(n=7).Accuracy of the method was verified by the determination of certificated standard materials of iron ores.Relative error between the analytical results and the certificated values was less than 0.3%.
