Electrochemical Behavior of Hemoglobin at a Lipid-Lauric Acid Modified GC Electrode and Its Application to the Determination of Proteins

The electrochemical behavior of hemoglobin at a lipid-lauric acid modified glassy carbon electrode (GC) is reported. In the potential range of +0.8~-0.7 V (vs. Ag/AgCl), an irreversible cathodic peak was observed at -0.4 V at the scan rate of 20 mV/s. In the medium of 0.01 mol/L KH 2PO 4-Na 2HPO 4(pH 6.0), the cathodic peak current shows linear relationship with the concentration of hemoglobin in the range of 1.25×10 -8~4.31×10 -7 mol/L. The electrode can be used as an approach for determining hemoglobin with high sensitivity.
