Synthesis, Characterization and Biological Activity of Rare Earth Complexes with Fural Salicylhydrazone and Molybdic Acid

Using a reflux condensation method and a low-temperature solid phase method, eight kinds of new ternary complexes were synthesized with rare earth chloride, molybdenum acid and fural salicylhydrazone. Their compositions were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, FT-IR, UV-vis, TG-DTA, TC-ICP, XRD and XPS, and confirmed to be Re(HL)MoO4Cl?6H2O (HL: fural salicylhydrazone). The antibacterial activity testing shows that all the complexes exhibit antibacterial ability against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The antimicrobial spectrum of the complexes is broad. MTT was used to study the anticancer ability of the complexes, which indicates that the cancer cells were killed by the complexes. All the complexes have potential drug application.
