Biohydrogen-production from Biomass Containing Cellulose by Anaerobic Fermentation

Biohydrogen production from biomass wastes has the potential to reduce organic wastes accumulation and the fossil fuel consumption. Hydrogenproduction from several biomass wastes by nature anaerobic microorganisms wasreported.Hydrogen production potential of different microbiological source and biomass wastes, as well as the composition of fermentation product in liquid phase, were studied in the batch culture experiments. The experiment confirmed that the percentages of hydrogen and carbon dioxide in different biogas were 49 %~62 % and 51 % ~38 %,respectively,under the experimental conditions. In the biogas,no methanewas observed.In addition, a longe scale experiment of biohydrogen productionfrom corn stalk was carried out in 5 L reactor, the hydrogenproducing rate was 0.8-1.2 L/h.
