Alcoholysis of styrene oxide catalyzed by coconut shell char sulfonic acid

The alcoholysis of styrene oxide was catalyzed by coconut shell char sulfonic acid,a novel solid sulfonic acid catalyst,was prepared from coconut shell,The effects of catalyst amoumt and solvent on the yield were investigated.The catalytic performance of coconut shell char sulfonic acid was compared with sulfonic resin,p-toluene sulfonic acid and soldium hydrogen sulfate.It was indicated that coconut shell char sulfonic acid is a green and efficient catalyst.
