Using flow chamber,we quantitatively studied the effects of pentoxifylline on normal leukocytes adhering to cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells. The results showed that pentoxifylline reduced the adhesive number of leukocytes to endothelial cells by acting mainly on leukocytes. The mechanism may be that pentoxifylline inhibits the adherence caused by oxygen free radicals from the leukocytes.
