Comparison of the contents of total saponins in Caulis Marsdeniae

OBJECTIVE To compare the contents of the total saponins in Caulis Marsdeniae derived from different province.METHODSColorimetry was used with vanillin-perchloric acid as coloring reagent to determine the content of total saponins.RESULTSThe contents of total saponins in Caulis Marsdeniae derived from Jianshui,Shiping,Lijiang in Yunnan province,Chongzhou,Leshan,Xichang in Sichuan province were 3.87%,3.44%,2.91%,1.63%,1.44% and 2.22%,respectively.CONCLUSIONThe contents of total saponins in Caulis Marsdeniae derived from different habitats are quite different,and the highest one is from Jianshui in Yunnan province.
