Clinical Study of Roxithromycin Combination with Sensitive Antibiotics in Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Biofilms Disease

Objective:This clinical trial was designed to study the treatment of pseudomonas aeruginosa(PA) biofilms disease.Methods:A total of 82 patients with PA biofilms disease were randomly divided into trial group and control group.The trial group were treated with roxithromycin at a dose of 0.15 g twice a day orally and one kind of sensitive antibiotic to PA simultaneouly.The control group were treated with one kind of sensitive antibiotic to PA alone.The sensitive antibiotic including ceftazidime 3 g twice a day,piperacillin sodium-tazobactam sodium 6.75 twice a day or cefoperazone sodium-sulbactam sodium 3 g twice a day were chosed by an in vitro test for the sensitivity to PA.These three drugs were administered intravenously for 14 days.Results:The average days of complaints and physical signs improved and the average days of the neutrophil counts and temperature recovered to the normal level in the trial group were significantly shorter than those in the control group respectively (P0.05).Both the cure rate(68.3%) and the total clinical efficacy rate (92.7%) of the trial group were significantly higher than the cure rate(34.1%) and the total clinical efficacy rate(70.1%) of the control group(P0.05).Conclusions:The clinical efficacy of the combination of roxithromycin and sensitive antibiotic to treat PA biofilms disease was better than one kind of sensitive antibiotic alone.Such combination therapy with roxithromycin and sensitive antibiotic may be advantageous for treating PA biofilms disease.
