Study on Operation Requirements in Multibeam Echosounding for Port and Waterway Engineering

A series of technical problems about operation requirements in multibeam echo sounding for port and waterway engineering are studied deeply.The maximum velocities of bathymetric boat are derived from the two constraint conditions that the footprints of beam are slitless and the object on seafloor can be detected,respectively.By numerical analysis,the ratios of track width to water depth are discussed in theory and practice for several common multibeam echo-sounders.The five important parameters,which affect the precision of multibeam echo sounding,are introduced in detail.The five parameters are roll drift-angle,pitch drift-angle,yaw drift-angle,latency(time-lag)and velocity-profile of sound underwater.The methods and the formulas of adjusting the parameters are given respectively.
