THE ARTIFI CIAL PROPAGATION AND CULTIVATION OF THE FLAT FISH, PARALI CHTHYS OLIVACEUS (T. & S.)

This paper presents the results of experiments carried out in 1965 onthe artificial reproduction and the cultivation of the flat fish. The eggs were obtained from artificially fertilized mature fish, treatedwith hormone, and induced to spawn under flowing waterconditions. The sur-vival rate of larvae reared in earthen-wares from newly hatched larvae tocompletion of metamorphosis was from 6--8%, and of those reared incement tank was from 33%. From the late postlarval stage to the juvenilethe rate was from 77--85%. The survival rateof juvenile reared in glasstank for a month was 99.3%.
