A REVIEW ON THE STUDIES OF MITOCHONDRIAL DNA (mtDNA) OF CRUSTACEAN

FANG Lihong, XUE Junzhen (School of Life Sciences, Hangzhou Teachers College, Hangzhou, 310036) DONG Shuanglin (Fishery College, Ocean University of China, Qingdao, 266003)
The molecular biological studies of Crustacean, especially those related to phylogenetics and evolution, are mainly conducted arround the database of mtDNA sequences. The amount of sequenced complete genome of mtDNA has developed rapidly during the past two decades, but the number of sequenced complete genome of mtDNA in Crustacean is only 8. Analysing the data of GenBank from the NCBI, we find that almost half of the sequences in Crustacean are the sequences from mtDNA. But the research about mtDNA sequences of different Crustacean is mainly about 16s rRNA and COI, or their partial sequence. The research on the molecular biology of Crustacean is still in its early stages in China.
