IMPROVED CALCULATION OF TURBULENT HEAT FLUXES AT AIR-SEA INTERFACE IN MARITIME CHINA

Using data sets of GSSTF2,NCEP/NCAR reanalysis and observational ones in Xisha Archipelago,the South China Sea,we calculated the turbulent heat fluxes at the air-sea interface in maritime China with commonly used bulk method with improvement on some parameters.With the modified method,sensible and latent heat fluxes in the areas were simulated.Comparison of the simulated results with the observational data in Xisha,the reanalysis data,and the satellites data showed that the improvement of the bulk method in accuracy is clear.The modified method can satisfy the limit of mean square deviation within 10W/m2,and the average relative error is about 25%.In addition,for the first time,the new method enhanced spatial resolution to 0.1°×0.1° in turbulent heat fluxes.The results are able to simulate the main features of variation in sensible and latent heat fluxes in different seasons,latitudes,and terrains in marginal seas of China,and also to reflect the general pattern of heat flux changes during summer monsoon outbreak in the South China Sea.
