Experimental research on hydroelasticity on box-typed flexible VLFS in waves

The Very Large Floating Structure (VLFS) used as a floating airport in ocean has been developed recently and attention is widely paid to it in the ocean engineering field. In this paper, presented are the model tests on the hydroelastic response of VLFS in waves, which are carried out in China for the first time. The research object is a VLFS used as a floating airport. The floating structure is a boxtyped flat plate with shallow draft. The distribution of the vertical displacement of VLFS is studied, and the effect of the wave direction, wave period and water depth on the characteristics of the motion and deformation of the structure is analyzed.
