Analysis of hydroelastic response of VLFS by use of the direct method

The problems of the hydronelastic response of VLFS are studied. VLFS is a kind of pontoon, which is of great significance to our country in building the maritime bases, defending and exploiting distant ocean resources. In order to analyze elementarily the problems of its hydroelastic response, the authors simplify first the VLFS into a model of elastic flat slab, then compute the pressure of fluid and the fluid-structure system using the method of pressure distribution and direct method respectively, finally present a mathematical model and write a calculating program. The tentative calculating model demonstrates that the computing method and program are not only correct, but also can ensure adequately the calculating accuracy. Besides, an example with a larger size is computed, and the responsive amplitudes affected by wavelength and wave direction, etc. are analyzed.
