Comparison of two numerical methods for prediction of hydroelastic responses of VLFS on 2D mild variable bottom

In the exploration of ocean resources and utilization of ocean space,very large floating structures are of significant use.Hydroelastic response analyses of VLFS under inhomogeneous sea environment is an important problem.The most typical inhomogeneous ocean environment in offshore is the inhomogeneity caused by the uneven bottom.The hydroelastic response of VLFS on a 2D mild variable bottom is studied by using multiple scale expansion method(zero-order approximation) and boundary integral method based on Green function of finite water depth respectively.The cases tested in the lab are also compared.The comparisons between the test and the calculation results are in good agreement.It is found that the inhomogeneous ocean environment has some effects on the hydroelastic response of VLFS.
