Application of MPS method in liquid sloshing

In the present study,MPS(Moving Particle Semi-Implicit) method is applied into liquid sloshing flows.Validation is carried out against a 2D rectangular tank subjected to surge motion.The impact pressure obtained numerically on the tank induced by liquid motion is in good agreement with experimental data.In addition,sloshing in baffled 2D and 3D tanks is simulated.Results show that the existence of baffle significantly affects the horizontal motion of liquid.Complicated phenomena,such as overturning,breaking and coalescence of free surface,are obsevred.MPS method shows a good flexibility in dealing with such large deformed free surface flows.Moreover,the agreement between computed wave height and experimental data is good,suggesting MPS method is capable of computing sloshing in baffled tank.
