EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON WAVE OVERTOPPING OF RUBBLE MOUND BREAKWATER WITH VERTICAL WALL

A formula is established in this paper for wave overtopping related to the discharge parameter in hydraulics. The main factors affecting the discharge parameter are wave height, Wave steepness,height and width of vertical wall,relative water depth and armor units. Experiments and analyses show that. The breakwater can be divided into four categories for different overtopping quantities and shapes,i. e. nonovertopping breakwater, less overtopping breakwater, overtopping breakwater and semi-submerged breakwater,which can be used as the standard in the determination of the top level of breakwaters.
