Determination of trace copper in seawater by spectrophotometric method with reverse FIA catalytic kinetic

A spectrophotometric method with reverse FIA catalytic kinetic was developed for the determination of trace copper in seawater.This method is based on the obvious catalytic effect of copper on the oxidation of hydroquinone by hydrogen peroxide in the slightly alkaline solution.The quinone produced to be detected by the spectrophometry at 500 nm.Under the optimum condition,the good linearity of a standard calibration was obtained over the ranges of 0~40 μg/L of copper,and the relative coefficient was 0.9993,the detection limit was 0.2 μg/L,the recovery rates was 98.7%~104.2%,the relative deviation for 5 μg/L copper standard solution was 1.03%(n=10).
