The effects of starvation and feeding modes on survival and growth of Hippocampus kuda

To reveal the effects of starvation and feeding modes on the survival and growth of seahorse,the experiments Hippocampus kuda were conducted on condition of 23.5~ 27.3 ℃,salinities 24.5~29.3.The adult fish all died after starvation for 101 days,and the peak of death was at 80~84 day.The larvae all died at 97 day and the peak at 65~72 day,and the newborn larvae all died at 13 day but had two peaks of death. The Point of No-return of adult fish,larvae and newborn larvae were 85、70 and 7 days respecttively,meanwhile the effects of starvation on survival rate of the newborn larvae were significant.The feeding mode effected the growth rate of seahorse dominantly,the survival rate was zero after 7 days’ starvation.The feeding modes,for example,feeding twice a day or feeding 1 day and stop 1 day,could be selected because of making no difference significantly.
