Mutagen Effect of Space Flight on Micromospra Echinopora

Life Process,Gentamicin output and color of fermented liquid of strains of Gentamicin pro-ducer-M. Echinopora were examined after space flight on the recoverable satellite 90105 in October1990,Main results were:(1)growing period varied greatly,showing super-parent types from whichsome stable short-growth-period mutations were selected;(2)Gentamicin production varied greatly.Both the average of yield and the rate of high-product strain increased,variable rate of increasingproduct was 22.27,while the output of the best strain selected from 88-4-27 and 2-1-5 afterspace flight was increased 27.55% and 18 % compared with control,being significant by t-test;thechange is statistically singficant;(3)the color of fermented liquid changed from brownish-red to lightyellow after space flight, which would be benificial for simplifying technology process decolouring andreducing its cost;(4)there were co-effects between space flight and treats pre-flight and post-flight treaments by physical and chemical mutagens.The results show that space flight resuIts in changing of genetical characters of Gentamicin pro-ducer and it is an effective mothod for the selection of better strains.
