HUANG Jin-zhang (Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Shanghai 200083 )
The light verb hypothesis was put forward at the end of the 80's. Owing to the works of Grimshaw Mester, Larson, Hale Keyser, it is now becoming one of the most important parts of the generative grammatical theory. Ten years later, based on the HK-Chomsky theory, James Huang developed a new idea which opened a new area in the study of Chinese syntax.
