0414 TYPHOON RANANIM WAVE HEIGHES SIMULATION

WEN bin,YU Fu-jiang(1.Ocean University of China,Shandong 266003 China;2.National Marine EnvironmentalForecasting Center,beijing 10081 China)
A full-spectral third-generation ocean wind-wave model WAVEWATCH,whichhas been developed at the Ocean Modeling(NCEP),is used to simulate the typhoon waveheighes during August 5~15,2004 with wind input of NCEP re-analysis data 4 times dailyin the Northwest Pacific Ocean. The significant wave heights(SWH) from WAVEWATCHmodel and TOPEX/Poseidon(T/P) altimeter data under the scan points in the NorthwestPacific Ocean for the August 8-12,2004 are compared. The temporal variation of SWHsfrom WAVEWATCH is generally consistent with that form T/P.
