Objective In these studies, the antihypertensive effects of salmon protein hydrolysates(SMs) were investigated in spontaneously hypertensive rats(SHR).Methods SMs were administered orally a single dose and multi-doses to spontaneously hypertensive rats(SHR) for 4 days and blood pressures were measured in unanesthetized SHR using the tail cuff method on the first and fourth day after medication. Results The systolic blood pressure(SBP) of SHR decreased after oral administration of SM-1 and SM-2(1.5 g·kg-1 of body weight),and was significantly differed from the control group on the first day.The SBP decreased significantly in all SMs groups and were significantly differed from the control group on the fourth day. Conclusion These results suggest that SMs have antihypertensive activity in SHR.
