Effect Analysis of Treatment for Difficult Root Canals with Dental Operating Microscope and Ultrasonic Instruments

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of dental operating microscope(DOM) and ultrasonic instruments in treating difficult root canals.Methods A total of 208 difficult root canals,which could not be successfully managed by conventional methods,were treated with ultrasonic instruments under DOM.These difficult root canals treated included calcified blocked root canals,instrument fracture root canals,perforated root canals.The success rates were calculated.Results The success rate of three kinds of root canals was 77.01%,75.26%,70.83% respectively.The total success rate was 75.48%.Conclusion Most of difficult root canals can be treated perfectly by the combined technique using dental operating microscope and ultrasonic instruments.
