Method for evaluating the performance of remote sensing image fusion by mutual information

A new criterion for evaluating the remote sensing image fusion performance was presented by mutual information. By calculating the mutual information between resource images and fused image, the fusion effect can be evaluated. This method was simple, accurate and anti-jamming. Compared with the evaluation method of entropy and joint entropy, it was shown that mutual information was a good evaluation criterion.
