The Vibration Wave and Power Flow in a Periodical Simply Supported Curved Beam

The logitudinal flexural wave motion and the power flow of a periodical simply sup-ported curved beam due to the vibration in the plane are studied. The tangential displace-ment and the slope are expressed by the propagation constant and admittance functions in aperiodical unit.The power flow input to the beam by the excitation and that propagated a-long the curved beam are analyzed.It is shown that there exist alternating bands of propaga-tion and attenuation in the curved beam just like those appearing in a periodical straightbeam. It is evident that the periodical curved beam behaves likea band-pass filter.
