New Mesh Refinement for Fully Automatic Adaptive Mesh Generation in Computation with FEM

A new mesh refining algorithm is presented. The definitions of some mesh control parameters are given and these parameters are usually adhered to the topological elements in the B-reps of the object. The schemes adopted for dealing with the descretization of boundary line segments, generation of interior points and insertion of points are described. Several graphic examples are given to show the performance of the algorithm. As an important part of a geometry-based, fast, effective, automatic and adaptive mesh generating scheme proposed by the authors, the mesh refining algorithm allows the specification of both a priori and a posteriori mesh density control information, and meshes with different density gradients can be easily generated. The size of whole mesh can be approximately controlled in advance and the refined mesh generated is of high quality and with elements of uniformly varied density.
