A STUDY ON THE PHYSIOLOGY AND MORPHOGENESIS OF THE RAMIE SHOOT PROPAGATION THROUGH CUTTING

During the propagation of ramie shoots by cutting, the physiology and morphogenesis were studied. The experimental results were as follows: 1. The range and numoer of roots were promoted whereas the growth of roots was inhibited by naphthalene acetic acid in the concentrations of 1.0, 0.5, 0.1, 0.05, anb 0.01mg/1. 2. During the propagation of ramie shoots through cutting, the rate of transpiration was 20—45mg/cm~2/day. 3. The primodia of adventitious roots were derived from the cambium of ramie shoots. 4. A shoot of less than 8cm long, strong diffused light, average room temperature higher than 20℃, and tap water were the favourable conditions for the shoot propagation through cutting.
