ANALYSIS OF THE COMBINING ABILITY OF THE PHOTOPERIOD SENSITIVE GENIC MALE-STERILE LINES OF JAPONICA RICE

Combinig ability of eight agronomic characters was estimated in male-sterile line Ai-xuan and photoperiod sensitive genic male-sterile lines of japonica rice including 6086,6172, 6334, 6339 in incomplete diallel cross with 9 R-lines as male parents. Observa-tion was made on the characters of plant height, panicle per plant, panicle length,number of grains per panicle, full grains per panicle, percentage of full grains, grainweight per plant and 1000-grain weight. The results indicated that characters of hybridrice are mainly influenced by the general combining ability of parents and can be pr-edicted by it. The general combining ability of main agronomic characters in 6086,6172 were high as compared with Aixuan A,and variance of their specific combinngability was big. Restoring lines Pei C 312 and Wanhui 31 Were best. Desirable combi-nations are 6172S/Pei C 312 and 6086S/Wanhui 31.
