Comparison of Resistance to Rice Sheath Blight Caused by Rhizoctonia solani in Early Rice Cultivars

The resistance to Rice Sheath Blight caused by Rhizoctonia solani in 17 early rice cultivars were compared in the experimental plots in Gong'an of Hubei Province,Huarong of Hunan Province and Ruizhong. of Jiangxi Province. The results showed that Jiayu 948 [IOD (index of the disease) 7.86], Zhefu 910 (13.30), Zhongfu 955(15.99) showed much more higher resistance in Gong'an of Hubei Province and Zhefu 910(13.30), Zhongzu 1( 15.70 ),HB14(15.80),Zhongfu 955(16.03) and 9818(16.50) showed much more higher resistance in Ruichang of Jiangxi Province than others in their tested plots.In the view of the fact that Zhongzu1, 9818 and 988 manifested a better resistance to RSB (the mean of IOD was 17.37) in Ruichang but a higher sensitivity in Gong'an (the mean of IOD was 34.96), while 944 and 9248 manifested a higher sensitivity in Ruichang (the mean of IOD was 41.00) but a better resistance in Gong'an (the mean of IOD was 19.68), Which indicated that there were notably regional differentiations in the virulence of natural groups of Rhizoctonia solani causing RSB.
