Experimental Research of Acupunctural Pre-stimulation on Changing the Level of Cerebral Radicals of AD Rats

Objective To investigate,in the light of radical theory,influences in cerebral contents of malondialdehyde(MDA) and glutathioneperoxdaso(GSH-Px) activity by acupunctural pre-stimulation at"Baihui"(DU 20) and "Shenshu"(BL 23) acupoint in rat models of Alzheimer's Disease.Method Changes of cerebral contents of malondialdehyde(MDA) and glutathioneperoxdaso(GSH-Px) activity were determined by spectrophotometry.Results The acupunctural pre-stimulation decreases MDA content and enhances GSH-Px acitivity in model animals.Conclusion Acupuncture treatment delays brain-aging via attenuating neuronal damage caused by cerebral free radicals due to the enhancement of body antioxidative capability by eliminating free radicals.
