Localization: The Islamic Civilization in the Yellow River Basin

MA Ying-jie;College of Marxism,Northwest University for Nationalities;
The Yellow River has been pregnant with prosperous cultivation and animal husbandry. The Yellow River civilization has been constantly blended with foreign cultures——in particular,the Islamic civilization,which was introduced via "the Belt and Road"( B R) and has spread over the regions along the River. Hence some Muslim communities took shape,such as those around Jinchen( the present Lanzhou city),the Hetao Plain,the ancient capitals of the Qin and Han-Dynasties,the Central Plain and Shandong and so on. The development of Islamic civilization was also the localization process in the Yellow River civilization,represented by the blended Mosque architectural culture,the funeral etiquette,and the separation between sage and the ordinary. Islam with Chinese characteristics constitutes an important part of Islamic civilization with its core value of the harmonious integration of ren( benevolence),li( ritual) and filial piety. It follows that "respect of differences and tolerance of diversity"is the principle of Islamic and the Yellow River civilizations,but also represents the trends of modern society. The localization of Islamic civilization in the Yellow River basin has indicated the commonality of civilization is the "diversity and uniformity".
