Adsorption of Al~(3+) in water with raw soil of attapulgite and hydrochloric acid modified attapulgite

The effects of hydrochloric acid(modifier) concentration and adsorption conditions on the adsorption capability of raw soil of attapulgite and hydrochloric acid modified attapulgite were studied to reduce the residual aluminum content in the raw water of drinking water.The results showed that adsorption effect of the hydrochloric acid modified attapulgite to Al3+ was betteer than that of raw soil of attapulgite,and attapulgite modified by 6 mol/L hydrochloric acid had the best adsorption capacity.At the optimum of adsorption conditions of pH value of water sample of 7.0,amount of modified attapulgite[m(modified attapulgite)/V(water)] of 8g/L,adsorption time of 3h,the mass concentration of Al3+ reduced from 0.264mg/L to 0.118mg/L in the drinking water.
