Calculating of Elastic Stability of Non-uniform Portal Frame in Geometric Plane

The stability of tapered member of variable cross-section under axial pressure loads in every boundary condition is researched, and a simple mathematical formula with high precision is given. Then the rotative restraint of column supported by non-uniform beam when portal frame loses stability with lateral displacement is analyzed, and a mathematical formula with high precision is obtained which can calculate the calculating length or critical load of portal frame.
