Environmental Impact Evaluation Index System for Green Building Materials based on LCA

Building material industry is a high energy-consuming and polluting industry, so it is of great importance to energy-saving and emission-reduction for the building material industry, which advances research and evaluation of green building materials. At present, basing on life cycle thinking is the main direction for environmenta impact assessment of green building materials. Life cycle assessment(LCA) is an international normative method of evaluating environmental impacts. LCA and its application have been deep into the building material industry, involving green-degree evaluation, eco-design, type Ⅲ environmental declaration(EPD), and many other important aspects. This paper brought forward the definition and evaluation model of green building materials, and presented the research and development status of LCA in China building material industry. Furthermore, environmental impact evaluation stytem based on LCA was established so as to provide reference to evaluation of building and building materials, taking into account the situation in China and development conditions of building material industry.
