Experimental Study on Stress Wave Action of Explosive Welding Using Dynamic Photoelasticity

Explosive welding is an effective and economical new technique for armor plates. That the complex stress state change is aroused between armor plates under explosive or shock force is expressed by complex stress wave propagation. In this paper, simulating the process of stress wave propagation using dynamic photoelasticity under explosive and shock force between armor plates is discussed for the first time, and explosive welding mechanism is explained by stress wave theory. It is proved that energy cumulation exists before two plates are combined. The relationship between theory numerical solution and fringe orders is derived based on elastic wave theory and stress optical law.
