Establishment of a Novel Preliminary Screening Model for Bioactive Parts of Lonicerae Japonicae Thunb. Based on Microcalorimetry

Objective To establish a novel method for screening bioactive parts and substances of traditional Chinese medicine based on microcalorimetry.Methods Using microcalorimetry,the power-time curves of Escherchia coli in different bioactive parts of folium of Lonicerae Japonicae were determined by TAM Air Isothermal Calorimeter.Quantitative thermokinetic parameters,such as k1,k2,t1m,t2m,P1m,P2m,Qsta,1,Qsta,2,and Qt,were obtained and the antibacterial effect of different bioactive parts was studied and compared.Results The different bioactive parts from Flos Lonicerae Japonicae had different antibacterial effects on Escherchia coli.Experimental results revealed that total isochlorogenic acid had the best antibacterial effect,followed by total chlorogenic acid,total flavone and total iridoid glycosides.Conclusion The microcalorimetric method has many virtues,such as extensive applicability and user-friendliness.
