ZHANG Shu-jing (Department Six, PLA University of Foreign Languages,Luoyang, Henan Prov., 471003, China)
The purpose of this article is to investigate Chinese learners' use of a high frequency word:make. The results indicate that as far as the overall frequency of make is concerned, there is no significant difference between the second-year Chinese learners and the native speakers, but the fourth-year Chinese learners use less than native speakers. But as far as the different uses of make are concerned, there are striking differences between the Chinese learners and the native speakers. And the fourth-year students not only underuse make, but also misuse it.
