Comparison and Research of Nd:GdYVO_4 and Nd:YVO_4 Laser's Characteristics

Under the same experimental conditions, We used plane-plane cavity and V-shaped folded cavity to compare the fundamental frequency and intra-cavity frequency-doubled characteristics of Nd:GdYVO4 and Nd:YVO4, respectively. With the pump power of 10.64 W, output power(1.06μm) 5.35 W and 6.29 W were achieved by plane-plane cavity, giving optical conversion efficiency of 50.3% and 59.1%,slope efficiency of 5.35 W and 6.29 W, respectively. With the pump power of 6.71 W, output power 1.73 W and 2.34 W of stable frequency-doubled green light were achieved by V-shaped folded cavity, giving optical conversion efficiency of 25.8% and 34.9%, respectively. In summary, the average output power and stability of Nd:YVO4-KTP green light laser are better than Nd:GdYVO4-KTP green light laser.
