Mechanical Properties of the Box-shaped Anchorage Zone in a Cable-stayed Bridge Steel Pylon

As a critical structural component in the pylon that connects cables of a cable- stayed bridge,the anchorage zone serves to pass the cable force to the pylon.Based on the Fanli Bridge,a shell finite element model is built to analyze mechanical properties of box-shaped anchorage zone in a steel pylon.The research shows that stress distribution of plates in the anchorage zone is non-uniform.Stress concentration is severe in the joints between bearing plate and diaphragm but the region of stress concentration is limited.The ratio of the bearing cable force in inclined cable anchorage zone and that in the horizontal cable anchorage zone is close when these two cables have the same length ratio in the anchorage zone.
