DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW TYPE OF DIAMOND BIT BY MIX-HOLDING TECHNIQUE

The shortcomings of traditional diamond bit and common ones with weak hold diamond were analysed in drilling extrahard rock formation. A mix-hold technique of diamond for manufacturing bits was presented. The structure of the impregnation layer was explained in the paper. The technique on how to realize the mix-holding technique was detailed. Some sample bits were designed for laboratory drilling experiments. The results indicated that the new designed bits presented excellent performances in efficiency and working life.
