BORON CARBIDE POWDERS MADE BY DIFFERENT PRODUCING PROCESS EFFECT THE PROPERTY OF CERAMICS

This paper describes the different properties of boron carbide powders produced respectively in vertical smelting furnace (called powder A for short) horizontal smelting furnace(called powder B for short).Comparison and analysis are also conducted on ceramic articles made with both powder A and powder B. The results show that, ceramic articles made with boron carbide powder A has higher hardness and higher density than those made with powder B. The working life of blasting nozzle made with powder A can last 800～1000h.
