Calculations of coolant supply parameters in quick-point grinding for green manufacturing

In high and super-high speed grinding process,there is an air flow layer with high speed around the circle edge of the grinding wheel which hinders the grinding fluid from flowing into contact layer,namely,the air barrier effect.The air layer speed is directly proportional to the square of the wheel speed.Quick-point grinding is a new type of high and super-high speed grinding process with a point contact zone and lower grinding power,and the edge effect of the air barrier is weakened because of the thin super abrasives grinding wheel.Through the analysis of the dynamic pressure and velocity distributions in the air layer around the wheel,the mathematic model of the flow rate and jet velocity of the fluid for effective supply in the process were established based on the thermodynamics and the technical characteristics of quick-point grinding process.Furthermore,the formulas to calculate the spray nozzle diameter and jet pressure for green manufacturing were also built up.
